Charles is in an Alaska prison for assault with a deadly weapon, along with other charges. His release date is 2031.
Todd, a mentor, recently gave Charles a copy of the QBQ! book. Here are Charles’ comments:
When Todd asked me to read this book called “QBQ,” these two quotes stuck with me:
1. Personal accountability changes the world, one choice at a time. (Chapter 17)
2. The practice of personal accountability: we discipline our thoughts. We ask better questions. We take action. (Chapter 28)
Everything started to click for me when I decided to focus on myself and on what I can do to become a better man. I feel now that I’m really growing.
Nooks & Crannies
A QBQ! training client once told us that QBQ! reminds him of English muffins because, like melted butter, the QBQ! message of Personal Accountability seeps into all of the “nooks & crannies” in one’s life. Such as …….
Work. Community. Spiritual. Physical. Health. Financial. School. Friendships. Parenting. And, of course ………
Spousing. 😆
Karen and I are hitting 46 years of matrimony in June, and yes, QBQ! matters. Example: Our only son (of 7 children), Michael, recently asked my wife, “Mom, it seems Dad and you are getting along great and enjoying life. What’s the deal?”
After pondering this unique question from an offspring, Karen spoke: “Well, I guess it’s like this, Mike: Dad lets me have my feelings, and I let him have no friends.” 🤣
True story.
In other words, Karen and I quit attempting to change each other a long while back. If we hadn’t “ceased and desisted” in this arena, we’d probably not be married today.
True story.
But we are, and life is good. And then there’s Charles—living the consequences of his choices and actions as we all do. Believe me, Karen and I are both thankful his life is improving day by day with QBQ!—even while behind bars. 👏🏻
Nooks & crannies, we all have them, and there are none where QBQ! doesn’t apply.
Amen?
Where is the principle of Personal Accountability most needed in your life right now?
