The QBQ! book’s message is all about personal accountability. We see this content come to life through real stories from real people. Quite often, people share how they’re using QBQ! in their daily lives. Here’s an email that came to Kristin from a credit union “Document Control Specialist” named Isaiah. He wrote …
Hi, Kristin,
I completed the QBQ! training program two weeks ago, and I just wanted to write back how much it is actually enhancing my daily life, especially at work.
Last Friday, I delivered my first work assignment for my organization, even though I didn’t feel quite ready for it.
I am still in training and know little about the “production system” we use at our credit union. My supervisor had asked me to continue focusing on learning more while he was on vacation. But as soon as he left, one of our executives reached out with a request I only had some idea of how to handle, and zero experience with this aspect of the system. Honestly, I had many reasons to turn down the executive’s request. But ………
I paused and thought, There has to be a QBQ for me to ask right now.
And ….. voilà! The magic happened when I asked myself these QBQs:
- What can I do to contribute to this request?
- How can I assist despite my limited understanding of our system?
- What can I do now to learn more?
So I decided to seek out a gentleman who knows a great deal about how our production system functions. I asked him several clarifying questions, and together we successfully completed the executive’s request. We got the job done!
The exec was very happy. 😊
And I am so happy to have gone through the QBQ! training. Thank you for putting together this concept in a way that is truly understandable and usable.
What QBQs do you need to ask yourself today to practice greater personal accountability? Leave a comment!
